Fingal Begins Water Metering Survey
Thursday, March 7, 2013
Fingal County Council has begun a survey of its water assets, in order to gather information to support the roll-out of water meters for domestic consumers. This is being done as part of a national water metering survey.
It is only the connection from the public mains to the household that will be surveyed, and accordingly:
- The surveyor does not require access past the property fence-line or entrance gate of any property.
- The surveyor will not be calling to doors or otherwise seeking access to any property.
- It is not intended to survey locations where there is no public supply, e.g. properties served by private wells.
Surveyors are equipped with hand-held devices to carry out the survey, and the survey will include the taking of a photograph of the location of the service connection. The photograph is intended to show the location of the stopcock (a valve located on the water connection) relative to the property. The taking of such photographs will not be intrusive and will respect the right to privacy of the public.
Each survey will generally take less than 5 minutes. There will be no interruption to your water supply during the survey.
This surveying project does not include the installation of water meters. It is intended that the new national water utility, Irish Water, will undertake meter installation in the future.
