The Socialist Party are proposing to nominate David Norris to be a candidate for the Presidential Election at our special meeting on September 20th. It will be interesting to see if he attracts the same support as on the last occasion that Fingal nominated him. You can view the proceedings here

The Labour Party have proposed that six independents to be nominated including Dermot Mulqueen below.

It was agreed at the County Council Meeting held on 12th September, 2011 that in the event of any one of the following having already secured the backing of four or more Councils the motion in relation to that person would fall.

1. The following motion was proposed by Councillor Ruth Coppinger and seconded by Councillor Matt Waine; “That Senator David Norris be nominated by Fingal County Council to be a candidate at the Presidential Election on 27th October, 2011.” 

2. The following motion was proposed by Councillor Gerry McGuire and seconded by Councillor Patrick Nulty; “That Gary Smylie be nominated by Fingal County Council to be a candidate at the Presidential Election on 27th October, 2011.” 

3. The following motion was proposed by Councillor Gerry McGuire and seconded by Councillor Patrick Nulty; “That Richard McSweeney be nominated by Fingal County Council to be a candidate at the Presidential Election on 27th October, 2011.”

4. The following motion was proposed by Councillor Gerry McGuire and seconded by Councillor Patrick Nulty; “That Joseph Duffy be nominated by Fingal County Council to be a candidate at the Presidential Election on 27th October, 2011.” 

5. The following motion was proposed by Councillor Gerry McGuire and seconded by Councillor Patrick Nulty; “That Garrett Kelly be nominated by Fingal County Council to be a candidate at the Presidential Election on 27th October, 2011.”
