St. Catherine's Park Masterplan

St. Catherine's Park is a 200 acres park located along the banks of the river Liffey between Lucan and Leixlip. The park is best known for the attractive old woodlands in the southern part of the park, while the northern part of the park mainly comprises of sports pitches and open grassland.

The park is currently relatively underused with low numbers of people walking their dog in the park and soccer teams using some of the pitches in the weekend. The park is also an important nature conservation area and part of the River Liffey proposed Natural Heritage Area is included within the parkland boundaries.

Given the large urban population base in the area, it is envisaged that St. Catherine's Park can become a valuable recreational facility. Not only for the people in Lucan, Leixlip and Clonee, but for the much wider region covering Dublin 15, Kildare and South County Dublin.
