Friday, October 5, 2012
The Department of Education have agreed to bring the construction for the new extension at Mary Mother of Hope National School, Littlepace Dublin 15 forward to 2013. The delivery of this project will see additional school places, with pupils benefitting from modern energy efficient buildings and improved learning environments.
· - Building the three storey tower, incorporating 6 Special Educational Needs (SEN) rooms, toilets and shower facilities, to be attached to the main building.
· - Provision of Ceilings in each classroom of the main building
· - Remediation of sound-proofing in the main school building
· - Developing of play facilities in the adjacent site, to include an All-Weather pitch, which will be managed by Castaheany Community Centre.
This announcement further underpins the government's commitment to educational resources to meet the demand for school places.
Last year the Department of Sport made funding available for the all-weather pitch but this had to be postponed in favour of the extension. While the funding has since expired I am pleased to say the at the Fingal County Council have undertaken to to support the construction of the planned all-weather pitch and to apply to the Minister for Sport, Leo Varadkar to reinstate the funding required
