National Drawing Day 2012 at Farmleigh House
Wednesday, May 9, 2012
The Fingal Arts Office is presenting a series of events to celebrate National Drawing Day on
Saturday 19th of May at Farmleigh House in the Phoenix Park.
This year’s event offers both adults and children the opportunity to
learn the art of the portrait, the landscape and to draw from life, nature and
the imagination. Younger audiences will get a chance to create their very own
book with a famous illustrator and author.
One of this
years highlights is a special workshop by popular children’s author and
illustrator of Dear Zoo aimed at younger audiences. For adults
we have also invited acclaimed painter and RHA member James Hanley to guide them
through the principles of composition and observation using the female nude as
the subject.
Bringing the event to the outdoors, Artist
Paul McKinley, one of Ireland’s leading contemporary landscape painters,
will also deliver workshops on ways to depict landscape using traditional
techniques in the grounds of Farmleigh and
Susan Sex will lead people in a botanical workshop in the house’s
beautiful conservatory”.
Fingal County
Councils Drawing Day at Farmleigh offers families, young people and adults an
opportunity to enjoy workshops on drawing, form, imagination and portraiture so
there is something for everyone at this year’s event. All are welcome but
places are limited so booking in advance is essential.
