Outbreak of Norovirus at Connolly Hospital

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Visiting restrictions are in place at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown due to an outbreak of Norovirus. Visiting is restricted in all areas of the hospital and is permitted only at the discretion of the Ward Manager.

As per the visiting policy there is strictly NO visiting permitted for children at anytime on the general wards.

Visitors who have had vomiting and/or diarrhoea should not visit the hospital for 48 hours after symptoms have ceased and they are feeling well. All visitors are requested to clean their hands before and after visiting, by handwashing or using the alcohol gels available at the hospital.

For further details on these visiting restrictions please telephone the hospital at 01 6465000.

The HSE would also encourage the public to attend the Emergency Department for emergencies only and would advise people to contact their GP or GP Out of Hours services in the first instance.
