Councillor Kieran Dennison and Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy, TD launch upgrade for Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant

Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy, TD, today officially marked the start of work on a capacity upgrade, as a result of an €80 million investment by Irish Water at Ringsend.

This project is part of a larger investment of over €400 million euro by the National Utility, to ensure the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant is not only capable of supporting the population of a growing European Capital, but also of meeting required environmental standards.

Other planned works include improvements in treatment processes, in order to meet required standards, set under the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive. This additional work will be carried out subject to planning permission.
