The Department of Education and Skills has lodged a planning application for the Hansfield Educate Together Secondary School (FW13A/0034).
The site is adjoining the new Blanchardstown West Educate Together Primary School behind Barnwell which was granted planning permission in March (FW13A/0005).

The development will consist of: a new 3 storey Secondary School building for approx. 1,000 pupils including Special Needs Unit with associated car parking, bus drop-off, 6 no. ball courts and site boundary treatment with landscaping to include external perimeter pavement. The total floor area of the new school will be 9,586 m². New access and pedestrian connections along Barnhill Road, Road 18 with Barnwell Road and connection with the south of the site as described in the Hansfield Strategic Development Zone Masterplan.

The Blanchardstown West Educate Together Primary School will consist of a new 3 storey building
with 24 classrooms, including Special Needs Unit with associated car
parking, bus drop-off, 3 no. ball courts and site boundary treatment
with landscaping to include external perimeter pavement. The total
floor area of the new school will be 4553m². Partial construction of
Barnhill Road with footpath connection created from the roundabout for a
distance of 230 metres and completion of road 18 as described in the
SDZ master plan.

Both the primary and secondary schools will be constructed in time for the 2014/15 school year to cater for the increasing population and provide additional communtiy and sporting facilities in the area.
