Question:-
To ask for an update on the proposed Academic Medical Centre for Connolly Hospital?

Response:-

The Partner Steering Group recently met with Dr. Bedford, Specialist in Public Health Medicine and Mr. Stephen Mulvany, RDO, Dublin North East and a briefing paper is being developed.

Work of the Medicine Integration Team, Surgery Integration Team and Organisation Development Teams remains on-going. The Medicine Integration Team are currently exploring the possibility of a potential pilot project in Rheumatology.  Discussions are on-going with other clinical areas with regard to potential integration.   The Surgery Integration Group are currently carrying out reviews and in that context have invited representatives from Orthopaedics and Urology to meetings.

Question:-
To ask for a report on the Medical Assessment Unit at Connolly Hospital and how many beds will be involved?

Response:-

A Steering Group has been established to progress development of the Medical Assessment Unit.  Clinical Inclusion Criteria and Critical Care Pathways are currently being finalised.  Medical Governance for the MAU is currently being reviewed in conjunction with the Hospital Executive. It is anticipated that the MAU will have 10/12 beds.
